Wi-Fi
The Wi-Fi module makes the machine's radio an access point: a Raspberry Pi 4's, or any radio that can be one. It is off until you switch it on on the Modules page, which installs what it needs.
The page says what the Wi-Fi is now — "“Thuis” is on, 5 GHz. 4 devices are on it." — then the card to join it, the devices on it with their signal in a word, and its settings.
Joining it
The card has the name, the password behind Show, and a code a phone's camera joins with. The household page has the same card, for everyone at home.
Settings
Name, Password, Band and Country, each a row that opens one drawer with every field.
A change drops everyone on the Wi-Fi, so Save asks first, and the change waits to be kept for three minutes while everyone joins again. If the Wi-Fi does not come back up, the old settings are put back at once.
- WPA2 with a password.
- One band at a time, 2.4 or 5 GHz, on the channels the radio allows in the country chosen, avoiding those a radar may claim.
With the router
On a router, the Wi-Fi can be the home network, or part of it: when you switch the router on, its choices of home network include the Wi-Fi, which then gets the home network's address as a cable would.
